Dieter Hacker

Biography

Dieter Hacker (b. 1942) is a German painter, photographer, sculptor and filmmaker. In the mid-60s, he graduated from his Munich academy as a Constructivist. Later, he became a Conceptualist, and created his own gallery to exhibit his works in Berlin.

According to the New York Times, his works are, “large, stark, well-drawn figure compositions, most are painted thinly in black and white with one or two violent colors”. His painting style is usually characterized by blunt strokes, a heavy hand and bold landscapes.
